vat after stirring with her hand to mix color and water. She washes the liquid over the frame, the substance leaves color behind of a glossmerthin weight.

It’s turned onto felt and pressed with a sponge, then, with skilled hand and learned patience, she slowly releases the frame from the felt, leaving behind a single layer thinner than tissue.

“Several layers take time,” she said.

She explained that different materials such as cotton can be shaped with fingers before turning giving texture and shape.

Raindrops are used for texture.

Self-made stencils are used to create designs of mountains, human figures, hearts, flowers and trees.

She likes the natural aspect of life —many of her designs are clouds, flowers, relationships, wildlife or nature — though several past items deal with social problems like homelessness or drugs.

“You can spend a fair amount of time in here,” she said of glancing around the studio.
