There may be another reason why the Slaughter camp doesn’t favor a debate: Most of the 7th District’s mass meetings are being held this week, and without a debate Ms. Slaughter has already accumulated a good number of delegates.
“We’ve been assured there’s enough support to win on the first ballot,” said Ms. Peaslee, pointing out that Mr. Green lacks a single committed delegate.
