The plates, 48M-969 and 48M973, were taken from the rear of two different buses. The front plates were not stolen, said Sheriff Woodward.

• No charges were placed when a Boston, Va. woman struck a deer on U.S. 211-522, three-tenths of a mile north of Route 626, at 7:30 p.m. Aug. 12, according to Sgt. D.S. Adams of the State Police.

Sallie Coates Thornhill, 58, was operating a 1988 Olds 4-door when she struck the deer, which was crossing the road. Damage to the vehicle was estimated at $2,500, said Sgt. Adams.

• A 16-year-old Culpeper girl was charged with reckless driving after a single-vehicle accident on Route 729, three-tenths of a mile east of U.S. 522, at 9:50 p.m. Aug. 16, according to Sgt. Adams.

The girl was operating a 1986 Nissan pickup when she ran off the right side and hit a tree. No injuries were reported.

Trooper G.T. Settle charged the girl.

Damage to the truck was set at $2,000.
