Monarchs lose
final series The Rappahannock Monarchs baseball team came one game within taking the Apple Valley League tournament championship, finally falling to the Woodstock Raiders in the fifth and decisive game Saturday, 19-9. The Raiders had been down two games to none in the final series and came back by taking three straight from Rappahannock. “I’m proud of the guys, we had a great season. We just went into a slump at a bad time,” said Monarchs coach David “Scratch” Clanagan. Reggie Williams was named most valuable player, and Robert Pendleton was presented the sportsmanship award for the playoffs. MOUNT VERNON ORCHARDS
