The Community Concert Association’s new season opens on a September Sunday with a bang - a performance by the Tommy Dorsey Orchestra - and an extra attraction, discount dining.

A near sell-out, the season features four presentations at Culpeper County High School and eight offered by other associations in Fairfax and Manassas.

The Culpeper performances are the Dorsey Orchestra, at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 8; the New York Theatre Bal* let, 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 19; the . Munich Chamber Orchestra, 8 p.m. Tuesday, March 3; and a musical review, a Broadway Celebration, 8 p.m., Wednesday, April 1.

Membership in the association covers admission to any of the 12 performances.

In addition, membership cards • now entitle holders to special prices, on Culpeper concert dates, at five restaurants: Aberdeen Bam, China Jade and Culpeper Culinarie in Culpeper; Cafe Michael, on Rt. 3 near < Lake of the Woods; and the Orange l Gourmet in Orange. I Association members are advised ;to call in advance for reservations »and discount information. Reservations will be required at the Cul.peper Culinaire. The Orange Gourmet, closed Sundays, will not be open Sept. 8.

Trombonist Buddy Morrow, who played under the late Tommy Dorsey himself, conducts the 17-man Dorsey band. He insists that it retain the sound and style of th6 original Dorsey band of the ’40s, but the repertoire includes latter-day music, too.
