Youngs thanked

for contribution

To the Editor:

We want to add our thanks to Bill and Mitzie Young and Bill and Betty Buntin for their generous contributions to the Rappahannock Country Dancers costume fund.

As winners of the house decoration contest for Washington during this year’s Colonial Christmas Weekend, the Youngs and Buntins graciously donated their prize winnings of $150 to be used for the replacement and rehabilitation of the 18th Century reproduction costumes the dancers have been wearing since their first performance at the 1970 Bicentennial Celebration at Montpelier. While we’ve had new dancers over the years, the costumes have danced every year.

All our performances are free to the public. For the first time this year, we are asking for voluntary donations to help in the expensive task of outfitting the dancers to keep them dancing. The generosity of the Youngs and Buntins almost doubled our costume fund, so you can see we have only just begun to collect the funds needed if we are to continue.
