week, the Rappahannock planning commissioners sent an extensively revised firing range amendment on to the board of supervisors with a recommendation for adoption. The zoning ordinance amendment originally proposed by Robert Bowers, proprietor of Blue Ridge Guns, was also forwarded to the supervisors but with a unanimous recommendation for denial from the planning commissioners. Both proposed amendments would allow rifle ranges by special use permit in an agricultural zone. The amendment endorsed by the planning commissioners includes more specific controls on operations, however.

Second Lt. Forrest H. Kilby has graduated from the U.S. Air Force communications electronics staff officer course at Keesler Air Force Base, Miss. Now trained in ground radar and electronic warfare principles and communications security, and the latest developments in communications technology, the officer will serve at Keesler Air Force Base, Miss. He is a 1981 graduate of Kansas Newman College, Wichita. His wife, Arlene, is the daughter of Thomas and Elizabeth Starks of Woodville.

In response to public request RAAC has opened its New Year’s Eve dinner dance to guests who wish to attend the dance only at the Middle Street Gallery on Friday, December 31.
