shot and killed
To the Editor:
I am writing this letter to inform the public of the sensless killing of our beloved Dunce! You see he was killed Thanksgiving Day on our farm by some cruel mindless murderer. I emphasize murderer.
This was not a hunter. I have been around hunters all my life and I know a true hunter would not have committed such a cruel sensless act. This so called hunter simply killed our wonderful stallion out of meaness. There is no other explanation for what he did.
Dunce had apparently gone down to the stream for a drink of water and as he was standing in a clearing where there was no mistakeing him for a deer. He was shot exactly where you would shoot a deer to kill him.
I know of no deer in Rappahannock County, Fauquier County, or any other county that stand 17 hands and weigh approximately 1,200 pounds.
I also want this person to know that when I found Dunce I had my 3 year old niece with me and my 6 year old nephew. They were very brave,
