She met Bill Landis, who is now her husband, in 1988. He had previously owned a bookstore in Gainesville, Florida. Both had had the idea to have their own card business someday. With Ms. Schneidman’s artistic ability and Mr. Landis’s business sense, they decided to give it a go.
They moved to Rappahannock County in August, 1990, and started the card business the same month. The first printing of cards was for 200 each of four designs, printed in Virginia. “We use the best paper and printing that we can; we don’t scrimp,” said Ms. Schneidman.
