Robert Compton
Robert William Compton, 75, of Reva died Friday, Jan. 21 at University of Virginia Medical Center in Charlottesville.
He was bom in Culpeper on July 6, 1918, the son of the late Clarence and Vemie Bruce Compton.
He was the husband of the late Sara Johnson Compton.
Mr. Compton was a retired carpenter and served in the United States Army.
He is survived by two sons, Richard Compton and Carl Compton; four grandchildren and two sisters, Mrs. Nina Palmer and Mrs. Julia Johnson.
Funeral services were held on Monday, Jan. 24 at Clore Funeral Home Chapel with Wayne Thompson officiating.
Interment was in Fairview Cemetery with full militar honors and pallbearers. '
Ervin Burke
Ervin Winson Burke, 75, of Orange, died Sunday, Jan. 23 in the President Madison Inn at Orange.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 26 at the Maddox Funeral Home in Front Royal with Rev. John Burke.
Burial will follow in the Washington Masonic Cemetery.
Mr. Burke was bom Sept. 6, 1918, in Washington, son of the late Charles Louis and Bessie Jenkins Burke.
He was a retired farmer.
Survivors include his ex-wife, Martha Anderson Burke Gillespie; three sons, James W. Burke of Chester Gap, Abraham Burke of Washington and Eddie Burke of Front Royal; three daughters, Corrine Eastham, Peggy Burke Pearson and Mabel F. Burke, all of Front Royalpa sister, Ora Christaldi of Front Royal; fourteen grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
Mr. Burke was preceased in death by one son, David Burke.
