To the Editor:
First of all we want to thank the members of the Rappahannock School Board for the very excellent job they are doing in guiding our schools through difficult times. We wish to also commend the good work of Superintendent Dr. Gangel and his assistant Dr. Chappftl.
We would like, however, to appeal to the School Board to reverse their decision on the policy of allowing smoking on school grounds. Two hundred and forty thousand (240,000) Americans die yearly from cigarette smoking. We must show our children that smoking is very destructive to their health.
Teachers and employees of the school must set examples, even smoking outstide the building will be seen by the students. Let us not give
