Douglas Fairfax
A memorial service will be held Wednesday, Jan. 26 at Trinity Episcopal Church for Douglas Davis Fairfax, 80 of Alexandria, formerly of Washington, who died Friday, Jan. 21 at an Alexandria hospital following a long illness.
Mr. Fairfax retired in 1970 after 40 years as supervisor of forage crops and diseases for the U.S. Department of Agriculutre in Beltsville, Md.
Following his retirement Mr. and Mrs. Fairfax moved from College Park, Md. to Washington, Va. where they lived until 1991 when they moved to Goodwin House in Alexandria.
Mr. Fairfax is survived by his wife of 53 years, Helen Dailey Fairfax; a son, Douglas D. Fairfax Jr. of San Diego, Calif.; a daughter, Nancy Fairfax Canova of Roanoke; two brothers, Carroll Fairfax and Williamsport, Md. and Hamilton Fairfax of Alexandria; four grandchildren, four step-grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
The Rev. Jennings Hobson will officiated the 11 a.m. memorial service which will be followed by interment in Union Cemetery in Leesburg.
