/singer at Warrenton night spots, plays the character of Jackson, one of the hands at the gas station. As the not-too-bright mechanic, “Eddie,” Herb Edward just about steals the show with his number “Farmer,, Tan.”
Across the street at the “Double Cupp Diner,” the Cupp sisters, “Prudie,” played by Holly Ross Haynes, and “Rhetta,” played by Gail Gilbert, are smart, sassy, flirtin’ Southern gals who serve up a song and dance.
“Pump Boys,” which is the collaboration of the efforts of six writers, opened on Broadway in 1981 and was termed “Totally terrific theater” by the New York Post. Following a successful run, the show has been performed all over the country, appearing at the Kennedy Center in 1992.
The FCT cast is coming off a sold-out run which opened to rave reviews last October.
The cast suggests that to get into the spirit of the show, the audience should come dressed in casual, country-western attire. The eveing begins with dinner at 7 p.m.
