Col. Leach was bom May 15, 1910, in Flint Hill, son of the late Robert L. Leach Sr. and Lucy White Leach.
He was a graduate of Virginia Polytechnic Institute.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and served in the U.S. Cavalry stationed at the Front Royal Remount.
He was a farmer and retired officer of the Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Service with the U.S. Department of Agriculutre.
He was a certified horseshow .judge and the recipient of an Olympic Silver Medal from the 1947 International Horseshow in Rome.
Surviving are his wife, Laveren K. Leach; two sosn, Robert L. Leach II of Sharpesburg, Ga. and Howard C. Leach of Charlottesville; two daughters, Diane Burke of Longbranch, N.J. and Janet L. Long of Luray and five grandchildren.
Everett Ellis Jr.
Everett Vinton Ellis Jr., 53, of’ The Plains died Thursday, May 5 at the Winchester Medical Center.
Funeral services were conducted Saturday, May 7 at Royston Funeral Home in Marshall by the Rev. Linda Glass.
Burial was at Ivy Hill Cemetery in Upperville.
Mr. Ellis was bom Feb. 8, 1941, in Upperville, son of Dorothy Sisk Ellis of Front Royal and the late Everett V. Ellis Sr.
He was a horseman employed by Rockbum Stud in The Plains.
He was a member of the Rectortown United Methodist Church.
Surviving with his mother are his wife, Margaret Ellis; a son, William C. Ellis of Amissville; a daughter, Deborah M. Ellis of The Plains; a sister, Jane Smallwood of Manassas and five grandchildren.
Jackie Chapman
Jackie Chapman, 56, of Amissville, formerly of Warrenton died Saturday, May 7 at his residence.
Survivors include his wife of 32 years, Patsy A. Chapman; three sons, Sillus Wayne Chapman of Amissville. Marcus Chapman of Nashua, N.H. and Dennis Jack Chapman at home and his mother, Georgia Chapman of Freebum, Kentucky.
Additional survivors include three brothers, Sidney Chapman Jr., of Freebum, Kentucky, Grant Lee Chapman of Shore wood, 111. and Allen Chapman of Cicero, 111.; six sisters, Misouria Smith of Freebum, Kentucky, Venia Rayburn of Majestic, Kentucky, Maxine Hernandez of Berwyn, 111., Priscilla Peterson of Dallas, Wis., Ona Lee Flippo of Caruthersville, Miss, and Lana Kay Kayes of Eldon, Miss, and two grandchildren.
