Gardener's Assistance
The Extension Master Gardeners will have regular office hours to assist homeowners with home horticulture and gardening problems this spring and summer. They are from 10 a.m. to 12 noon Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday and from 2-4 on Wednesday afternoons. If you can’t stop by the Extension Office during those hours, call and leave a message at 675-3619.
4-H Day Camp Registration
This year’s 4-H Day Camp will be held June 27-July 1 at the Northern Virginia 4-H Education Center. This camp is for children between the ages of 6 and 12 as of Jan. 1,1994. Registration will continue until June 1, or until the camp is full.
Only 75 children can go and the camp fills up very rapidly, so if you’re interested, come in early and fill out a registration form. The cost of the camp is $25 for five days, 9 a. m. to 3 p.m. daily.

Amissville Volunteer Fire and Rescue invites area girls to participate in the contest for Honorary Fire Chief. To sign up, call Sheila Smith 937-3107, for Little Miss ages 3-7; Junior Miss is ages 8-14 and Queen, ages 15-20. Carnival is set for June 22-25. Contestant selling most tickets wins.
Band Gala
The third annual Band Gala will be at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, May
19 in the RCES Auditorium. The evening will begin with the RCHS Band performing “Bridgewater March” and “Canticle,” featuring clarinet soloist David Pierce. Next the RCES Beginning Band will play three pieces including “Second Ending Blues.” Finally, you’ll hear the ligh-hearted “School Bus Blues” by the RCES Gold Band. The evening will conclude with a finale of fifty musicians performing an enthralling “Legend of Fort Apache. ”
Art Exhibit

Garden Gallery Opening
“Salt of the Earth” Garden Gallery opening will be held through May 31 and will feature topiaries, herbs, florals, clay sculptures, hand painted pottery, bedding plants and more. For more information call 636-3037.
Fashion Show Slated
On Thursday, May 19 the Fashion and Tailoring Department of George Washington Carver-Piedmont Technical Education Center will present a fashion show “Fashion In Bloom” at 7:30 p.m. in the school auditorium on Route 15 South of Culpeper. The clothing, which is being shown, has been created by the students in the class. Everyone is invited to attend.
