On May 20,1993, telephone subscribers in Sprint/Centel’s Washington, Virginia exchange petitioned the Virginia sftate Corporation Commission for local calling to Culpeper.
Between November 15,1993 and January 14,1994, the subscribers in the Washington exchange were polled regarding their willingness to pay an increase in rates for local calling to Culpeper. A majority of customers in the Washington, Virginia exchange supported this expansion of local service.
In conjunction with a cost sftudy conducted by Sprint/Centel, the Commission determined the increase in monthly rates for service which would result from the expansion of the local service area. The Commission required Bell Atlantic-Virginia, Inc. (formerly named C&P Telephone Company of Virginia) (the Company’ or “Bell Atlantic") to conduct similar cost studies to allow the Commission to determine the monthly rates for expanded local service fdr Culpeper customers to the Washington, Virginia exchange. /
For expanded local calling to Washington, Virginia (telephone numbers beginning with 675) form Culpeper/telephone numbers beginning with 262, 399, 423, 547, 727, 825, 829 and 937), monthly rates would increase as follows: flat rate residential service, $0.30 per access line; residential message rate or measured rate Service, $0.20 per access line; residential'economy service, $0.12 per access line; business flat rate service, $1.09 per access line; business message rate or measured rate lines or trunks, $0.28 per line or trunk; flat rate PBX trunks, $1.70 per trunk; and semirpublic coin ser-1 vice, $0.69. i i
