the audience but each musician explains how his instrument was made and how it evolved and generally how the music to be heard came to be written.
Many people drive one or two hours each way to attend these concerts which for Rappahannockers are fifteen minutes or so away at most and cost much less than a metropolitan area concert. !
At last week’s performance which was fairly well attended there were less than ten children but there was not a sound out of them during the performance. One must conclude that they were as enthralled with the music as were the adults.
Parents who have an interest in having their children know about and enjoy good music or perhaps want to instill or encourage a desire in a child to take up an instrument missed an excellent chance to do this by not bringing their children to these concerts.
I urge any family with children old enough to he interested in classical music to expose them to next fall’s series.
