Amira Skaljec and Nihad Hadziomerovic came to Warrenton with the help of the Bosnian Relief Mission so that Amira Could receive treatment for cancer. Nihad, who has been in a forced separation from his wife and two daughters for a year and half, is taldng care of Amira full time and acts as her translator.
They are currently living in an expensive apartment in Warrenton with two flights of stairs which are difficult for Amira to manage. Their ideal living situation would be a small donated house with a bathroom and bedroom on the first floor, 15 minutes from the Fauquier Hospital. A rent of up to $500/month is possible for short term. Once a house is located, furnishings will be needed, as Barbara described.
The Relief Mission is trying to bring Amira’s husband, son and - daughter here, but at this point, the U.S. State Department: will only allow the husband to come. He wop’t leave his children, ages 15 and 17,-in the Czech Refugee Camp, winch means that Amira is without family during a time of life-threatening illness.
