what has come to be called the Christian Right. I think you would be hard put to find any credible journalist in Virginia who would disagree with that statements. It is not meant to be judgemental, merely factual.
Joe Elton is a former director of the state Republican Party. He did an outstanding job in that capacity and I have a high regard for his ability and his political acumen. I am told he is writing a political column these days and I’m sure it’s a good one.
But when Joe said that North has been the victim of “brutal attacks by the liberal media and the mischarterization of his supporters by pundits like Goolrick,” he fails to mention he is on the North payroll. I pride myself on being a conservative and seldom, if ever, have I been linked with the ‘liberal media.’
Mr. Elton said further that I obviously opposed Mr. North’s candidacy and for some unexplained reason quoted someone as mentioning that I work for a Congressman who recently supported a ban on assault weapons.
It is true that I met Jim Miller several years ago, long before he and North became rivals for the GOP nomination, and it’s true that I respect Miller and think he would be the strongest nominee.
I add, however, that I am not a delegate to the state convention, I have no bumper stickers on may car, I have not worked in the Miller campaign and on those occasions when
