Shenandoah National Park Superintendent Bill Wade announced the start of an active campaign to form a Friends of Shenandoah National Park organization.
Shenandoah is one of the last remaining major national parks that does not have a friends group. National Parks friends groups, consisting of millions of citizens who contribute hundreds of thousands of volunteer hours, normally assist parks with advocacy to protect parks, as well as with fund-raising activities that contribute millions of dollars to hertiage conservation.
“It’s time that the thousands of people who are passionately interested in protecting the values , of Shenandoah National Park have a focused way to assist,” said Supt. Wade.
