I’ve heard Mr. North speak I’ve been impressed with his oratorical ability, his philosophy of government and his sincerity. If he is nominated, as seems likely, he will have my personal support and vote in the general election.
That does not mean, however, that I will ever consciously let my person feelings intrude on the objective views of this column for to do so would be to betray tl ose who subscribe to it because they feel I can be counted on to look as fairly at what is happening in the Virginia political arena as possible. The truth, no matter how distasteful it may be to some, is that Mr. North is highly controversial and, if nominated, may not get the active support of many who call themselves Republicans, including the senior Senator from Virginia who is a Republican.
