Gordon Thornhill, manager of the Rappahannock Farmers Co-op, said the Co-op never carried Galecron. He said he remembers seeing advertisements for the product sent out by the company, but the Co-op never ordered any. He said he did not know if the Co-op carried Fundal, and he does not have records that go back far enough to find out.
Fundal, which also contains chlordimeform, was made by the Nor-Am Company which is not a party to the agreement.
Robert Horsburgh, with the Virginia Tech’s Winchester Fruit Research Station, said many of their records were disposed of during their recent move into new quarters. He did, however, find an spray guide from 1976 in which “chlordimeform (Fundal, Galecron)” was recommended as a post-blossom spray for the control of red mites on apples. There were six different chemicals recommended for red mite control and chlordimeform was listed fifth of the six, he said.
