With her European background, Dutchy Fannon knows her antiques.
After closing her shop in Leesburg after 10 years, she opened her new shop, Antiquites de la Duchesse, in Amissville on Sept. 16. 'The shop is located on her family’s property, Duchesse Farm, with road ^frontage on U.S. 211. 1 ■ One of hfer reasons for moving ■ her business from Leesburg was be,Jcause of the strong possibility of Dis'ney coming to the area. She said, “I knew it would be impossible to drive to Leesburg any more.” And being ■ in the county all the time, she looks , forward to spending more time * meeting people here, though she has * been a county resident for 30 years.
The shop is set up in a small house, and five rooms of it are filled * with her antiques and her husband Dave’s duck decoys, some dating back to 1880, and mechanical banks. 1 It is an impressive and elegant collection.
