Once again, this October, just as the swallows traditionally come back each year to Capistrano, Calif, the buzzards return to Hinckley, Ohio, and Punxsatawny Phil emerges from his burrow up in Gobbler’s Knob, Pa., Woolly Bears will be putting in their annual appearance in our area and we at The Hagerstown Almanack will be expecting them to show up at Woolly Bear Headquarters.
The contest begins Oct. 1 and the deadline for entries will be Oct. 31. The two categories once again will be the “Cutest and Cuddliest” and the “Biggest and Woolliest.” The person entertaing each winning candidate will receive with our compliments six copies of the 1995 Almanack.
All entries should be sent or taken to Woolly Bear Headquarters which is located at the new Eastern Professional Complex on Eastern Boulevard between the Dual Highway and Jefferson Boulevard. 'Hie address is 1120 Professional Court, 2nd Floor, Hagerstown, Md.
Again, we would like to assure one and all who might be concerend about the welfare of the contestants, all needs are carefully attended to and, following the judging, they will be released back to a natural habitat on a lovely farm near Downsville.
We encourage all of you to keep your eyes peeled for outstanding examples of our furry friend and join us in the fun. Good Luck!
