Surviving are his wife, Dora Ellen Tharpe Smith; three daughters, Shirley S. Ramey Click and Mary Ann Callas, both of Front Royal and Wanda S. Brown of Wardensville, W.Va.; two brothers, James Edward “Bud” Smith of Front Royal and Stuart B. Smith of Hyattsville, Md.; two grandsons, two stepgrandsons and three great-grandchildren.
The Independent Order of Odd Fellows conducted a service Sept. 23 at Maddox Funeral Home in Front Royal.
