The Amissville United Methodist Church hopes to have its new facelift completed by October 31.
A Fallfest was held last weekend to raise money for the renovations being done to the sanctuary, roof and steeple. Co-chairmen of the festival, Margaret Davis and Mary Holmes, said that the renovations also include air-conditioning and new carpet to be added to the sanctuapr.
They said that the renovations are being done in such a way that the look of the old is still maintained. W.G. Beals of Warrenton is the contractor on the job.
The festival consisted of yard sales, flea markets, book sales and a food concession.^ Besides the usual clothing, toys, and kitchen items found at yard sales, good-sized tree seedlings were also available including magnolia, pecan and chestnut. Books were a bargain at 25 cents each, or five for $1.
Silent bids were being accepted for a large dollhouse. As of Monday the winning bidder had not been identified. However, the dollhouse may bring in between $200 to $300.
Acconiing to Ms. Holmes, the Fallfest raised over $1,000, and money is still coming in from different sources.
