To the F.ditor:
Monday's issue of the Washington Post (1-23-95) had a front page article detailing Virginia’s decline in funding of higher education. We now rank 43rd among the states, joining such states as Alabama and Mississippi, at the bottom of the pile.
Gov. Allen plans to cut stale aid to higher education further. He’s already taken the ax to programs that offer some help to the unprotected poor people in our midst. It seems to me that any program that seeks to better the life of the whole community. Gov. Allen opposes. He pass lip service to Christian values and familylife but shows little evidence of the compassion and concern for the poor that are the attributes of a true Christian.
