at the county park scheduled from 3 to 6 p.m. followed by a pot-luck picnic, Saturday, will be a full day.
For those for whom this is not enough, Saturday will also include a Spring Bazaar at Wakefield Country Day School from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and the opening of the RAA baseball season at Stuart Field in Amissville at 12:30 p.m.
Registration for the Fodderstack 10K has been moved to the Flint Hill Fire Hall, on Route 641, the Fodderstack Road. The deadline for pre-registration has passed, but registration in advance of the race will occur from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. at the fire hall. The cost is $17 per runner. The race is still scheduled to start from the warehouse on U.S. 522, follow the Fodderstack Road to Washington and conclude in front of the Courthouse.
The race is divided into an open and nine age-specific categories for males and females, as well as the Eva Smith Memorial races for Rappahannock County residents only.
The major sponsor of the Fodderstack Classic is the Inn at Little Washington which furnishes T-shirts to the first 250 finishers.
The course records of 31:26 for men and 36:46 for women have stood for several years. The Virginia Savings bank of Front Royal is offering $300 cash for a new course record. If both records are broken the winners will get $150 each.
Several of last year’s winners have registered. Berkeley Hobson, who won last year in the 12 and under category is competing this year in the more demanding 13 to 18 category.
