Child Screenings Planned
There will be a free child screening from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on May 4, > in Culpeper and May 11 in Warrenton. The screening is for children in ■ the counties of Culpeper, Fauquier, Madison, Orange and Rappahannock.
The Culpeper screening will be held at Pearl Sample Elementary . School. The Warrenton screening will be held at Central Elementary School. Qualified professionals will screen each for Hearing, Vision, j Physical and Mental Development.

County Cleanup Contest Ends \
Groups and individuals competing for a $100 prize offered for the ; best roadside cleanup effort will be filling their last huge, orange bags 1 this weekend. Hunt Harris of the Ragged Mountain Resource Center says *■ that about 16 sections of road in the county, this still leaves much room for cleanup work. Summer Quest Applications ]
“A Mountains’ Journey” is the theme for the 1996 Regional Governor’s School, Summer Quest! Classes offerings include Smart Art (art), The Hills are Alive (science), Once Upon a Time (social sciences), Surrounding Sounds (music), Blue Ridge Brain-Reasers (math), and Writers’ World (Language Arts). Field trips and guest presenters will l offer students unique opportunities for learning.
This program, sponsored jointly by Culpeper, Fauquier, Madison, and Rappahannock Counties and the Virginia Department of Education, * is designed for identified gifted learners currently enrolled in grades 5, 6, « and 7, and will be held at Rappahannock County High School from 9 l a.m. to 3 p.m. daily, July 29 to August 9. There is no cost for this school, but students must bring lunch each day. ,
Applications are available from Helen Williams at the School Board Office 987-8773 and must be received by May 6.
Family Friends Day Set
There will be a family and friends set fro 6 p.m'. on Saturday, April 27 at the Macedonia Baptist Church. Guest will be the Front Royal Journey Men and Voices of Inspiration in full concert.
Benefit Garden Party Planned
A garden party concert to benefit the Rappahannock Association for the Arts and the Community will be held on Saturday, May 11.
Cocktails and light buffet will be served from 5 until 6:30 p.m. with a concert by Tom Espinola and Lorraine Duisit from 6:30 until 8 p.m. Coffee and dessert will also be served. There is a $25 per person charge.
The event will be held courtesy of Col. and Mrs. Stewart Willis at their home, Mount Prospect Farm. Rain date is set for Saturday, May 18. For reservations call 675-3193 during office hours.
Video-Discussion Series Set
The IRIS Centre for Shamanic Studies will present its Spring VideoDiscussion series every third Tuesday evening from 7 to 10 p.m. at the Centre at 325-B Middle Street in Washington.

Spring Bazaar Scheduled
The annual Spring Bazaar at Wakefield Country Day School, Inc., Rt. 522, Huntly will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday; April 27 in the school gym. Free admission. Refreshments will be sold, plants, clothing, appliances, and an upright piano are among the many items.

May Day Celebration Set
The public is invited to the traditional May Day Celebration at Spring Mountain School from 12 to 5 p.m. on Saturday, May 4. Along with the May Pole Dance, there will be rides, games, food, entertainment and crafts. Artists and craftsmen interested in selling their wares can call the school at 675-1458.
