To the Editor:
Following months of study and. work sessions, the Rappahannock County School Board cut its proposed budget for 1996-97 by $118,000. As aT result of this action, one administra-' tive position has been eliminated, a« teacher will not return and other cutfc« to increased library and instructional supplies were made.
Our school system employees have become very good at squeezing every cent of value out of every’tax dollar entrusted to them. This budget is very lean, and I believe further cuts cannot be made without undermining the quality of our children’s educa- ' tions. The increased funds will help . Rappahannock County keep great' teachers and other critical staff members, and attract the best new employees for the benefit of our children.
The Supervisors will hold a public hearing at 7 p.m. next Monday, April 29, in the high school auditorium. Call ’ or write your supervisor to encourage ‘ passage of the budget without further cuts. Plan to come to the meeting to support our schools.
