The Administrative Board of the Sperryville United Methodist Church met last Sunday at the home of Julian and Sandra Brown.
Others present were Rev. Merlin Shorb, Mrs. Emma Swindler, Mrs. Catherine Brown, mrs. Margaret Ann Wayland, Strother Brown, Buck and Geraldine Payne, Nelson and Pearl Nethers and Hugh Chrisman.
Sunday guests of Mrs. Ethel Tyner were Mr. and Mrs. William Fulton and Mrs. Helen Smith of Forrestburg, Maryland, Mr. and Mrs. William Woodard of Warrenton, Mrs., Mary Elizabeth Clatterbuck of Falls Church, Ruby Dwyer and Lillie Corbin.
Miss Ashleigh Pullen of Washington was a Sunday afternoon guest of Mr. and Mrs. Jack Baldwin and David while I attended funeral services for Mrs. Clara Updike at the Washington Baptist Church. Mrs. Updike passed away on August 15.
Mr. and Mrs. Ronnie Jenkins and Mrs. Donna Clark and Bryan were Saturday evening guests of Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Jenkins and Angie.
Guests last week of Mrs. Irvin R. Kilby were Dr. William Kilby, Christina and Marie of Harrisonburg, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Zeigler of Dayton, Ohio and Mrs. Lewis Tyus of Richmond.
The Sperryville United Methodist Church concluded their Vacation Bible School on August 2 with a picnic at the Sperryville Fire Hall.
Sheriff Gary Settle was an honored guest. Accompanying Sheriff Settle were Deputy Connie Compton and Dispatcher Penny Atkins.
Sheriff Settle was presented a thankful hands poster and a check which will be used for the DARE program.
