Special thanks to Cathy Smith for her many years of reporting the Amissville community news and for supplying me with a list of contacts. Although I won’t be able to fill her shoes, I will try to follow in her footprints.
For those of you who may not know me, it was suggested that I write a few lines to introduce myself. My husband, Randy, and I moved to Amissville with our daughter, Kady, a little over seven years ago. We own and operate Randy’s Racing Collectibles in Warrenton and I am also employed with Culpeper County Public Schools. I enjoy being the Girl Scout leader for Junior Troop 920. Randy, Kady and I are members of Amissville Baptist Church.
Amissville Bethel Baptist Church, Cemetery-Club is sponsoring Larry Williams and the Gospel Harmonizers of Woodbridge at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 24. Edward King and William Parker are sponsors. Refreshments will be served after the'performance. Rev. L. Freeman, pastor, invites everyone to attend.
Sunday, Aug; 18, marked the last sermon for Rev. Tom Everett at Amissville Baptist Church. Tom and his family will be relocating to Newport News where he will be the new pastor for Immanuel Baptist Church. A farewell dinner was held after church to thank Tom and Lyn for their nearly eight years of dedicated service. They will be greatly missed. Our loss will be Immanuel’s gain. Best of luck, Tom, Lyn, John and Josh!
The community recently lost two special ladies, Helen Burke and Irva Poe. Our thoughts and prayers are with their families.
The “Kingdom of the Son” program was a very popular one for area churches during Vacation Bible School. Amissville Baptist Church had over 120 participants. The children worked on a variety of crafts and played games with an African theme. A total of $117 was collected to assist in the rebuilding of the churches recently burned by arsonists. Amissville Baptist Church has received $460 in donatibns to date for
