Commonwealth’s Attorney Peter Luke warned that the “asphalt gypsies” are out again preying on the elderly.
Typically such people tell a homeowner they have leftover asphalt from another job and can give the homeowner a good deal on a new driveway.
“Usually it’s not a good deal, and they don’t do a good job,” Mr. Luke said. He said sometimes they can be rather intimidating, particularly to the elderly.
Several items were stolen in areas of the county this week, but in one instance something was left for someone.
