The account was used to pay for the chlorination system that was required after the plant was built. It was also used to pay fines imposed by the Department of Environmental Quality when the plant was found in violation of its permit some years ago. WSA members have been trying unsuccessfully to build that fund up so it will be available when major parts of the plant wear out and have to be replaced. Mr. Johnson said the savings account will be repaid for the money paid to the county whenever the checking account has enough money to do that.
After disposing of the bid for materials for the surge basin project, WSA members agreed to see if they can move ahead with awarding a contract to construct a concrete pad for the new basin soon so the concrete work can be done before cold weather begins.
Plant operator Donna Chabot asked members to include funds to replace the lawn mower and flow meter in the new budget. She said the lawn mower was definitely in its last season and the flow meter is giving problems.
The WSA is operating without a budget for the current year. Mr. Johnson told Ms. Chabot, “I don’t know where the budget stands. The chairman hasn’t been here for the last couple of meetings. He said he would work up a budget.”
