Bill was an Army Veteran of the Vietnam War. He received the Purple Heart and Bronze Metal. He was president of W.H. Durden Surveying Inc. and a member of South Carolina Professional Land Surveyors Association.
He was secretary for Campfield Hunting Club in Georgetown.
Survivors'in addition to his mother include his wife, Deborah McFaden Durden; stepfather. Tommy Jenkins of Lignum; children, Robert Oyer; Christopher Staton; Ashley Webster; Stacey Baddeley and Misty Byrd, all of South Carolina and eight grandchildren.
Survivors also include his brothers and sisters, Richard Durden, address unknown; Joseph L. Durden of Dumfries, Peter Jenkins of Culpeper, Gloria O'Neil of Florida, Bonnie K. Foster of Maryland and Bobbie Miller of Tennessee.
A memorial service was held on Thursday, Jan. in Garden City, South Carolina with a private burial.
