"Two teams played their hearts out," Coach Baltimore observed following the loss. "Whoever came down with the ball last won, and they did it. There were some crucial plays, and we are still having problems rebounding. Thank the Lord no one was injured. They will learn from it. We have to come back with a good practice and get ready for Madison Friday"
Jeff Atkins led the scoring with 14 points. Jason Baldwin added 13.
In the JV contest the Panthers enjoyed an 8-0 early lead, but Strasburg fought back and trailed 10-5 at the end of the first quarter. Rappahannock held onto the lead in the second quarter and finished the half up 15-9.
The Rams came back in the third quarter and led 24-21 at the end of the period.
The entire final quarter was close, but the JV Panthers came away with a 35-32 win.
Coach Jason Gochenour was pleased to get the first victory in three (-games with Strasburg. "We didn't shoot overly well, but we played well," he said. "We were really good on defense and we rebounded well. The key for us is to keep the score low and not get into an up tempo game.”
