Street Shoulders
After more than a year of talking about providing the Town of Washington with new road surfaces, VDOT finally got the job done this past summer. The delay was not really VDOT's responsibility. The town kept adding replacement lines to its water system, and VDOT waited for that process to be completed.
However, the new road surface, when finally installed, was in places six inches higher than it had been and higher than the shoulders. In a few places shoulders have been provided with tan-colored gravel to the level of the new road, but there are more places where nothing has been done to even out the shoulder with road surface. This is a hazardous situation which VDOT should correct soon.
