Coach Eugene Baltimore said Luray "has some talented kids. They are a young team, and they play hard. They showed that Friday night. I expected that from them, but they shouldn't have done as well as they did. We didn't play well defensively. We didn’t cut off their driving lanes, didn't talk on picks, and didn't rebound.
"One thing I was happy about is we were down by six points with 3:30 left, but the kids didn't quit. They fought back. That shows a maturing team."
Jeff Atkins led the scoring with 29 points. Daniel Settle added 18. "Tommy Settle really played well," Coach Baltimore said. "He made some big plays down the stretch and scored the game-winning basket. The game could have gone either way. It's good to get a win on the road.”
In Tuesday night's game with Strasburg neither team was able to get a decided advantage and the lead switched over and over. Strasburg led 12-11 at the end of the first quarter, but the half ended in a 25-25 tie.
The Panthers were up 41-38 at the end of the third quarter and enjoyed a brief seven-point lead 45-38 in the fourth, but the Rams fought back tying the score at 53 before getting the final bucket and a 55-53 win.
