For Flospice
Choice restaurants throughout the Virginia Piedmont have joined Hospice of the Rapidan's efforts to care for terminally ill patients and their families by offering discounts valid throughout the coming year. The organization's Adventures in Dining booklet features coupons from 23 area restaurants, and the $30 cost of each book will help Hospice of the Rapidan cover the cost of patient care.
"Our hospice families are never billed for services, and this program will help us cover expenses for patients without Medicare or Medicaid,” says Page Smith, Hospice of the Rapidan's director of community outreach. "This is our first year to do the project, and we are delighted that so many wonderful restaurants are participating."
The program attracts new customers for restaurants, and diners enjoy trying out new restaurants while supporting a worthy cause. All restaurants are within driving distance, and coupons are valid until Nov. 30, 1997. A conservative estimate puts their combined value at over $150. As a bonus, several fine dining establishments have donated complimentary meals to be drawn as prizes.
