Rappahannock’s public speaking team won the Bull Run District title last Thursday, outscoring a tough Brentsville team 32-29. It was the first time the district meet ever has been held at the high school.
Rappahannock students won 14 of the 25 trophies awarded in 10 categories for first-third places — the best forensics showing ever for a Rappahannock team. Students earning honors were: Nathan Flinchum, first in extemporaneous (domestic) and second in storytelling; Nancie Gallegos, first in extemporaneous (foreign) arid second in prose interpretation; Chad Heddleston, Chris McLear, Rachel Koski, first-third respectively in original oratory; Lauren Sharp, second in poetry interpretation; Emily Sims, first in humorous and second in dramatic interpretation; Rob Reeve and Lauren Sharp, second in duo interpretation; Dawn Havstad, second in storytelling; Rachel Koski, third in spelling.
