out on a royal quest, or scavenger hunt, combing the school and grounds for treasure. The winning team receives goldfoil-wrapped candies as a reward. After the quest, the Duke inducts those seventh grade students who have maintained at least a B-average in British history into the Society of the Rose (ladies) or the Order of the Spurs (gentlemen). According to Lynn-Tucker, the Duke also knights the squires, “with all due ceremony.”
Throughout the banquet, the fourth, fifth and sixth graders provide entertainment. They play recorders and sing rounds in Latin. Some musically-inclined parents play harps or other instruments.
