They painted the blackboard so it now looks like it did in the early 1900s. Soon the blackboard will display the current stream conditions and Thornton River Fly Shop sales. The wall of windows framing the view of the Thornton River make it an idyllic location for a fly fishing business.
A life-long antique collector, Tenney furnished the store with a number of antiques including a pot-bellied stove that he said he had been shuffling around for years. Tenney said they resurrected a mahogany display cabinet from a junk yard and it is now the centerpiece of the store with its new beveled glass top, mirrored back and custom-made base.
Besides numerous old chairs, a pew from the old Blessed Sacrament Church in Alexandria will add to the quaint serenity. “This is going to be furnished with antiques, the only thing new will be the coffee maker,” Tenney joked. They hope their shop becomes a clearing house for fishing
