Directors meet monthly to discuss the business of the District, including BMP funding for landowners, District conservation priorities, personnel issues and coordination with state and federal agencies and other local units of Government. In addition, Directors are community leaders in resource management, by providing guidance and information to their friends and neighbors.
Soil and Water Conservation Districts are political subdivisions of the Commonwealth of Virginia that manage and direct conservation programs. The Culpeper District is governed by a twelve member Board of Directors, which oversees a staff of four.
Directors represent the counties of Culpeper, Orange, Madison, Greene and Rappahannock. Staff work directly with landowners to put conservation on the land. Directors are elected in the general election in November and each county will select two Directors to represent their county.
