Young people have traditionally gotten their life skills training from their parents. But these days, teachers in schools increasingly fill that role. To assist in providing life skills to junior and senior high school students, the beef industry is distributing the Take a Cook on the Wild Side video education kit to schools nationwide.
Rappahannock County beef producers, through their checkoff funds, helped produce the kit, which uses a television variety show format to deliver messages about food safety, nutrition, and how today’s beef products fit their demands for quick, convenient and great tasting food. Teen hosts on the show take students on an entertaining, but educational tour of a food festival, family kitchen, teen cooking party, picnic, food safety lab and supermarket.
