April Kite Fly slated
The Ben Venue Kite Festival, Inc. and the Piedmont Environmental Council invite you to this year’s Earth Day Kite Fly on Saturday, April 17 from noon until 4 p.m. Rain date is April 18. Admission is $2 per person, children under five, free. For information call 675-3444.
First Thursday Group to meet
First Thursday Education Support Group will meet to discuss the 1999-2000 school budget on Thursday, April 8 at 7 p.m. at the Rappahannock County Library. Dr. David Gangel, Superintendent has been invited to talk about the proposed school budget that will be sent to the board of supervisors by April 1. Bus trip to National Cathedral
The Annual Flower Mart at the Washington National Cathedral will take place May 7 and 8. To avoid the hassle of driving to this popular event, join Trinity Episcopal Church Women on Friday, May 7 and travel by bus, leaving the church parking lot at 8:30 a.m. Lunch is available to buy at stands on the grounds of the Cathedral. The bus will return that afternoon, leaving the Cathedral at 3 p.m. Expected time of arrival back at the church is 4:30 p.m. Round-trip cost: $15 per person. SummerQuest applications available
Gifted and talented students presently in grades 5, 6 and 7 are eligible to apply for a two week summer program held at Rappahannock County Elementary School. There is no cost. SummerQuest runs from July 26 to Aug. 6. The theme for this year is Brain Power: You Don’t Have to Be a Genius to Think Like One. Classes are offered in the areas of art, history, math, music, science and writing. Deadline for applications is April 30.
