The Cancer Crusade in Rappahannock begins next week with Mrs. Mary S. van Brederode as unit chairman. Other members of the committee include Mrs. C.R. Hite, Mrs. J.L. Yowell, Miss Judy Burtner, Mrs. Amos Butler, Mrs. Herman Scharmer, Mrs. R.P. Anderson apd Mrs. James F. Massie. The goal for Rappahannock County is $1,500. At the meeting Tuesday night of the Washington Town Council Clean Up, Fix Up, Paint Up week it decided to set April 12-19 for the event. For the convenience of the town residents there will be an extra trash removal day on Saturday, April 19. An organizational meeting for a Sperryville Rescue Squad was held Tuesday night and officers were elected for the organization. They are: President, Donald Gore; First vice president, Gid Clater; Second vice president, Clifton Jenkins; sergeants, Billy Dodson and Thomas Atkins; secretary, Wilson Burke; treasurer, Charles Sisk and chaplain, the Rev. William Harrison. Directors named were R.P. Anderson, John Walker Jenkins and Wilson Atkins. The beginning projects of the rescue squad 1 group will include a fund raising campaign and a first aid course.
