Just in time for beautifying your house and garden, David Smoot has opened Blue Ridge Gardening and Landscaping on US 211 near Washington.
Located next to the Hillsdale Grocery, Smoot has erected a small greenhouse in front of what used to be a dealership which sold farm equipment. The building itself has ample room for all the things he plans on selling.
Smoot has been in the county all his life. He was raised in Rappahannock and attended Rappahannock County High School. After school, he began small-scale landscaping and has been doing that ever since.
He said, “most of work is in D.C. and Fairfax, where there’s a large demand for it.”
But hopefully, his new venture will keep him closer to home with his wife Jennifer of two years and their one year old son, David.
The Smoots met “a long time ago,we’ve known each other for years,” Jennifer explains. She will be his partner, taking care of the store when he is called off to a landscaping job.
