Thomas was nominated for the award by Laura Conklin, a Physical Education teacher and Volleyball coach at the high school. Some of the criteria for selection by the academy include academic performance, interest and aptitude, leadership qualities, enthusiasm, and motivation to learn and improve.
As a result of this award, he will appear in the USAA Official Yearbook. The yearbook is published and distributed nationwide.
