The Tree Swallow, four inches long with a wingspread three times its length, is one of the most beautiful of the group. With iridescent green backs and snow white underparts, they stitch an elegant pattern with their narrow, swept-back wings.
Tree Swallows are cavity nesters and often compete with bluebirds for the nest boxes put up to attract those handsome birds. Both species are tenacious and persistent fighters for a chosen nest site. I say let the two fight it out and the best bird
