After the acclaim received by their last Washington, Va. concert in May of 1997, The: Montpelier Singers have been invited by RAAC to return to The Theatre at Little Washington for a Saturday night concert on April 17.
This group consists of 15 lovers of choral music from a far flung region....Culpeper, Madison, Orange and Rappahannock Counties (and one comes from Harrisonburg). Among their ranks are two Rappahannock women, Sallie Morgan and Mary O’Meara.
The Montpelier Singers was founded nearly ten years ago by musicians who wanted a more convenient local opportunity to sing in a choral group. Their name is taken from the estate of James Madison , and the group is invited to sing at Montpelier for various functions. They have also performed at Lake of the Woods and in Orange, Little Washington and Charlottesville, as well as at the National Cathedral in Washington.
They are privileged to be conducted by Wallace Homady, whose seven year career at the American Boys’ Choir included performances in cities all over the world. In 1996 Hornady came to Woodberry Forrest School as their Music Director on a year’s sabbatical. This turned out to be such a good fit that he accepted a permanent position.
